Este viernes 17 de junio se llevará a cabo la trigésima primera sesión del Seminario Interno de FEN donde se exponen trabajos en progreso de académicos y avances de tesis de estudiantes.

En esta ocasión se presentará "The effect of banking regulation Basel II in the real economy in Latin America"

Título - "The effect of banking regulation Basel II in the real economy in Latin America”

Abstract - The contribution of this article to the current literature is twofold. (i) It is the first article that evaluates if the changes in a bank’s capital requirements would impact variations in the economic capital in Latin American with the policy evaluation methodology and (ii) analyze empirically if this kind of regulation could affect the concentration in the size of the firms. 

The most important result is that the effect of Basel II rules depends on the size of the firms. These results are consistent with the methodology implemented to estimate the capital banks level in the regulation which consider the firms rating evaluation. Another interesting result, is the level of credit and investment increases in firms of bigger size in countries that have implemented Basel II.
