Estimados/as Académicos/as,

Les extendemos la invitación al seminario que organiza el Departamento de Economía, en el que se presentará el trabajo titulado "Police-Civilian Fatal Encounters and State".

Expone: Felipe González, King's College.

Abstract: We study how high-profile police–civilian fatal encounters shape trust in the state. Combining nearly 750,000 survey responses from seventeen Latin American countries with a new event dataset, we exploit event timing relative to survey interviews. Civilian-death events reduce institutional trust, whereas police-officer-death events increase it, with no effects on interpersonal trust. Trust responses are concentrated among civilian-death events receiving timely national media coverage. Unrelated domestic disasters delay reporting of both event types, consistent with competition for limited media attention and an information-transmission mechanism.

El formato será presencial en la sala P-303.

Saludos cordiales,
